Submission Guidelines

If you have an idea for a new column or piece or segment, feel free to email us, even if you don't want to be the one to implement the idea. We have an ever-expanding group of writers and editors always happy to hear new ideas. If you have an idea for a piece that you'd like to write, then this is definately the page for you. The following information is all about how to make sure that your piece fits our gidelines, which makes it more likely to be published in one of Sorean's future issues.


Submit a Piece

When you send us a piece, include your byline. That means to have the title of your article and the "By John Smith" lines at the top. DO NOT use spaces or "tabs" to indent paragraphs. Either send us unformatted plain-text or a .doc/.docx document or a .pdf document.


Compensation

Currently, since we are still a free online .pdf magazne, we are unable to pay for submissions. We offer exposure, portfolio/resume experience, and the ability to grow your repertoire while building rapport with Sorean, making us more likely to accept your submissions later, when we can start paying for submissions.


Submission Rules

Rule #1 All pieces must be original and written entirely by you and have some connection with goth.

Rule #2 All pieces must have its content and/or subject approved by the EiC before it goes into the magazine.

Rule #3 By submitting a piece to us, you give us permission to use it or change it however we see fit. By submitting a piece to us, we are not - in any way - obligated to use it.

Rule #4 All pieces must be edited by one of Sorean’s Editors and then all edited pieces must be approved/altered/checked by the original writer.

Rule #5 All pieces must be well written and in English. If you need help with this, our Editors may be able to assist you.


Submission Guidelines

Articles
Preferred Submission Length: 1,000 to 2,000 words
Articles, Journalism, Interview, and Feature Pieces.
Poetry
Preferred Submission Length: One Page or less
Poetry can be free-form or "traditional" in format.
Bite Fiction
Preferred Submission Length: 1,000 to 2,000 words
Bite Fiction is similar to Flash Fiction. It's a "Bite-sized piece of Fiction" ... not to be confused with Fiction Bites, which are a "Bite of a Fiction piece"
Fiction Bites
Preferred Submission Length: At least 3 parts, 1,000 to 2,000 words per part
Fiction Bites are similar to a television series or a chapter in a book. It's a "Bite of a Fiction piece" ... not to be confused with Bite Fiction, which is a "Bite-sized piece of Fiction"
Reviews
Preferred Submission Length: 500-1,000 words
Reviews are for movies, books, video games, and sometimes television shows, restaraunts, or event venues. Some types of reviews might have a specific person already assigned and some review subjects might already have been covered.
